Biography

Houston Lane is Principal of Strategic Services. He began his career at Credit Suisse First Boston in New York City, where he was an investment banker in the Media, Telecommunications, and Transportation Group. Following his tenure there he was named VP—Finance at Clear Channel Communications, and was subsequently involved in the acquisition and integration of $8 billion worth of transactions of all sizes. During that time he was also involved with investor relations, access to capital markets, and internal budgeting and forecasting.

Mr. Lane was later an Engagement Manager in the Houston office of McKinsey and Company, where he served a diverse group of clients on projects largely related to strategy and finance.  Following this work he served on the executive leadership teams of a series of growth businesses in the software and construction industries, including roles as the CFO of two different companies.  His most recent management role was as the COO of EDGARfilings, a company that was sold to Thomson Reuters in December of 2008.

He is the co-author of a Harvard Business School case study entitled “Akamai’s Underwater Options,” and has twice been quoted in The Wall Street Journal.

Mr. Lane graduated from the University of Texas at Austin Magna Cum Laude  He also earned a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from the Harvard Business School, graduating in the top five percent of his class.
